Rockville Centre's 22nd annual Halloween Costume Parade and Party are Oct. 28. Youngsters pre-K and up, their parents and families are invited to join the parade which starts from the Village Green, Maple and Lee avenues, at 2 p.m. and proceeds down Maple to the Rec Center. There will be games, fun, and prizes for the costumed marchers at the center. Everyone must register for the parade and /or party at the Rec Center for $8 per family. In case of rain, the parade is canceled, but the party will begin at 3 p.m. at the Recreation Center.

Goblin Calls

Fill out a Goblin Slip at the party after the Ragamuffin Parade and you may receive a Goblin Call and a Goblin Prize on Halloween evening, Oct. 31.

Operation Christmas Child

The Rec Center is collecting school supplies, toiletries and small games for distribution to needy children. Bring your donations, in their original packaging, Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. by early November.

Food Donations Needed

The Rec Center is accepting donations of canned and dry goods as well as frozen turkeys or turkey coupons for distribution to the needy in our community. Bring your donations Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. before Thanksgiving.

Open Gym Program

The main gymnasium of the Rec Center will be open for free play basketball for grades 4 and up on Saturday afternoons from 2 to 4:30 p.m. beginning Oct. 29. The evening open gym for grades 6 and up will begin Oct. 5 and Oct. 6 from 7:30 to 10:15 p.m. Admission is by valid 2012-2013 Recreation Card.

Register for 10K, 5K Races, Family Fun Run

Runners wishing to enter Rockville Centre's annual running events on Nov. 10, sponsored in conjunction with the Rockville Centre Chamber of Commerce should call (516) 678-9339 for an application or register online at www.Active.com. The one-mile Family Fun Run begins at 9 a.m. on Front Street in front of the LIRR station. The 10K and 5K races begin at 10 a.m. on Park Avenue in front of the Fantasy Theater.
