Rockville Centre officer makes drug arrest
On Feb. 28 at 11:43 p.m., Rockville Centre Police Officer Stephen Reidy saw a speeding car going westbound on Sunrise Highway. Upon stopping the vehicle, Reidy learned that the car was unregistered and that the driver, Sharmeak Riley, 42, of Valley Stream, had a suspended license. Upon further investigation, Reidy discovered 72 plastic bags that contained a substance believed to be cocaine hidden in the car. Riley was charged with both third and fourth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was arraigned on March 1 in First District Court in Hempstead.
