Rockville Centre second-grader is first-place figure skater

Rockville Centre resident Alexa Lyons was recently awarded 1st Place in her skill levels and 1st overall for the 5th Annual Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series. The tournament was held is a series of seven competitions held in rinks across Nassau County starting in November and ending in June. More than 150 skaters from several states competed.

Alexa, 7, scored 80 points overall. She skated in basic program with music, compulsories and showcase events. She is a second-grader at Covert Elementary School.

Her next competition is the Hershey Open in Hershey, Pa. in August.

Alexa is a member of the Freeport Skating Academy and is a member of their Synchro Team as well.
