The Nassau BOCES Board of Education appointed James Robinson as its new Associate Superintendent for Administrative Services on June 15, marking his departure from the East Rockaway School District after two years.

“We thank Mr. Robinson for his service to the East Rockaway Schools and appreciate all he has done for the district over the past two years,” Superintendent Lisa Ruiz said. “We wish him all the best in his new position.”

Robinson, assistant superintendent for finance and operations, previously served as both Executive Director for Business and Director of Facilities and Operations at the Freeport School District.

At BOCES, Robinson will be tasked with developing new services, programs and technologies to help meet the needs of partnered school districts. He will play a key role in capital improvement programs, provide leadership to various programs and act as liaison to local school district superintendents.

Robinson, of East Norwich, served on the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Central School District board from 2002 to 2014, including five years as president. He earned a Master of Business Administration and a certificate in New York State School District Business Leadership from Dowling College and a bachelor’s degree in communication from Long Island University’s Post Campus. He will officially leave office on August 8.

“Mr. Robinson brings a unique and varied skill set along with almost thirty years of organizational leadership experience,” said Eric B. Schultz, BOCES board president. “We are excited to have him join as a strong complement to our leadership team.”
