School construction continues

As the summer wears on, construction in the school district continues.

Work has almost been completed on the field at South Side High School. Most of the underlayment is in place. Soon, the new synthetic turf will be put down and a new track installed around the field. Due to the time it takes for the underlayment of the track to cure, it won’t be completed by the time school starts, but will be done shortly after.

At the Watson school, work continues on the addition to the building. Part of the work required tearing down the school’s playground, but a new one is being installed and should be ready by the time school starts. A portion of the field was torn up to have additional drainage put in. That area won’t be able to be used during the year, but the rest of the field will be accessible by the school’s gym classes.
