This past weekend, South Side High School’s theater department gathered up as many gangsters, debutantes, sailors, evangelists turned night club singers, Wall Street hopefuls and goofy English lords they could find for a rousing performance of “Anything Goes,” the timeless 1934 musical written by Guy Bolton and P.G. Wodehouse and scored by Cole Porter.
The classic comedy went off without a hitch as students nailed renditions of such classics showtunes as “I Get a Kick Out of You,” “You’re the Top” and “It’s De-Lovely” — and, of course, “Anything Goes.”
