English major Stephanie Weaver of Rockville Centre, far left, researched and compiled primary sources on the artistic and political facets of the Irish Literary Revival.

The Kaplan Family Mathematics, Science and Technology center at Mount Saint Mary College recently bustled with student-faculty teams at the 2012 Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) Symposium.

Faculty from arts and letters, business, education, mathematics and information technology, natural sciences, and social sciences acted as mentors over the summer to 27 students. Results were presented at the September symposium.

Stephanie Weaver of Rockville Centre, under the supervision of professor Daniel Shea, researched, acquired and compiled primary sources on the artistic and political facets of the Irish Literary Revival.

After presenting their projects at the symposium, Weaver and the other students were treated to a lecture by polar biologist Sam Bowser and painter Laura Von Rosk, examining the pair’s experience working in Antarctica.
