Three stabbed in Rockville Centre park

Nassau County police have reported that three teens were stabbed in Rev. Morgan Days Park on May 24.

According to police, the three victims, all students at South Side High School, were playing basketball at the park when they were approached by a man approximately 35 to 40 years old, about 5'8" tall, 180 pounds, with a bald head and sleeves of tattoos on both arms. Police say the man approached the victims, pulled a ski mask over his face and attempted to punch one of them, causing a fight. When the other two victims came to assist, the suspect pulled out a black and silver colored knife and stabbed all three, then fled on foot toward the parking lot.

The three victims were taken to a hospital and treated for their injuries, which were not life threatening.

The attack came just a day after three other teens were the victim of a knife attack at Hempstead Lake State Park. At a press conference on Wednesday, Rockville Centre Police Commissioner Charles Gennario said the two attacks were not related. The Hempstead Lake State Park attack was likely a gang initiation, he said.

The investigations into the two attacks are ongoing, with the New York State Park Police investigating the Hempstead Lake State Park Attack and the Rockville Centre and Nassau County police departments jointly investigating the second attack.

Police ask anyone with information regarding the crime to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
