Two arrested for Ridgewood Bank robbery in June

Two men have been arrested in connection with the June 6 robbery of the Ridgewood Savings Bank on Hempstead Turnpike in Franklin Square.

David Traversa, 19, who is homeless, and George Armstrong, 20, of Rockville Centre, were arrested on Sept. 27 and arraigned in Nassau County Court, according to police. Both arrests took place in the Nassau County Correctional Center in East Meadow, where the two men were jailed, having been charged with undisclosed previous offenses.

At the time of the bank robbery, police reports stated that a man had entered Ridgewood Savings and handed a demand note to a teller. The suspect was given an undetermined amount of cash and fled northbound on Pacific Street. He was described as an 18- to 20-year-old white man, 5 feet 9 and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and dark gloves. There were 10 employees and three customers in the bank at the time of the robbery. No injuries were reported.

Traversa and Armstrong were charged with third-degree robbery and third-degree grand larceny. Armstrong was also charged with six other unrelated warrant charges, including criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal mischief, unlawful possession of marijuana and two counts of disorderly conduct, all in Rockville Centre.
