Police: Hewlett Harbor woman arrested for driving drunk with kids

A Hewlett Harbor woman was arrested on at 12:45 a.m. on Oct. 14 for driving drunk with three children in a black 2016 Chevrolet Suburban in the North Shore community of East Hills, police said.

Casey J. Bodian, 48, was traveling west on Northern Boulevard, when police saw that she failed to signal and stay in the lane. She was stopped at Glen Cove Road on the northern service road, where police determined Bodian was intoxicated. Overall there were five passengers, including three girls, 11, 13 and 14. The children left the scene with their father. No one was injured, according to police

She was charged with three counts of aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandra’s Law, three counts of endangering the welfare of a minor, driving while intoxicated and multiple traffic violations.

Leandra’s Law, also known as the Child Passenger Protection Act, is a state law making it an automatic felony on the first offense to drive drunk with a person age 15 or younger inside a vehicle.
