New website makes it easier to enjoy Rockville Centre's recreation center

The Village of Rockville Centre recently launched a new website — www.rvcny.gov — where residents can find helpful information, calendars of events and announcements regarding all village departments and services, including the many happenings at the John A. Anderson Recreation Center.

By clicking on the Recreation tab, residents can learn more about offerings at the local hotspot. In addition, the Recreation Department offers online registration for most programs at www.rockvillecentre.recdesk.com.

Registration for the Fall Program season begins on Aug. 13 at 8 a.m.  Residents are encouraged to create their Family Profile on the site ahead of time so that on Aug. 13, the registration process will be quick and easy.  You can also purchase your membership in advance. Program registration cannot be completed without a current membership.

As always, residents can still register for programs in person at the Recreation Center. But, whether one chooses on-line or in-person registration, it is important to create the Family Profile in advance.

New programs this season include Ninja Challenge, Power Up Your Mind, Family Ping Pong, and dodgeball. JCole’s Hip Hop Dance lessons and Jake Berman’s SAT Prep classes are also new to the center. Due to popular demand, the Nursery School program has grown to include three 3-year-old classes, two 4-year-old classes and two Time-For-Twos classes.

The Recreation Department staff invites all to attend its annual Open House Kids’ Fest on Saturday, Sept. 15 from noon to 4 p.m. All activities, games, demonstrations and refreshments are free. Local groups will be on hand as community members welcome the advent of a new season of fun and excitement in Rockville Centre.
