Rockville Centre's Margaritaville fundraiser benefits village's Community Fund

About 300 gathered at the St. Agnes Parish Center for a night of food, drinks and partying to raise money for the Rockville Centre Community Fund.

A not-for-profit charity founded in 1987, the Fund helps local residents in need, including seniors, single parents and victims of disasters. Over the last three decades, the fund has raised about $2 million.

Friends and strangers came together on the dance floor, swaying to the musical stylings of Jimmy and the Parrots, and lauded members of the Rockville Centre Fire Department, which was honored.

“Margaritaville has proved itself to be a night filled with fun, laughter, and civic-minded residents who support the Rockville Centre Community Fund,” Mayor Francis X. Murray said in a statement. “I would like to thank the committee, whose tireless efforts ensured the sixth annual fundraiser was a success, as well as our honorees, the Rockville Centre Fire Department. These volunteers exemplify all that is good about this great community.”

Village officials did not yet know how much money was raised.
