The RVC Youth Council held its sixth annual Substance Abuse Awareness Campaign on June 2. The theme for this year’s event was “Step Up For Prevention,” as students from the council and representatives from the Rockville Centre Coalition for Youth designed sneakers with a substance prevention message.
The council, a non-profit organization formed in 2009, brings together local teenagers and adults to prevent substance abuse by highlighting the dangers of underage drinking and illegal drug use.
The council also had its installation of officers for the 2017-18 school year during the gathering, which local officials attended. The sneakers designed for the event will be on display at various spots around Rockville Centre. If you are a business or agency in town that would like to display some of the pairs, please contact info@rvcyouthcouncil.org.
