Tommy Brull Foundation hosts Pro Wrestling Day

Rockville Centre’s Tommy Brull Foundation hosted its second annual Professional Wrestling Day on Aug. 11, at Camp ANCHOR, as campers responded to the action in the ring with cheers, smiles and laughter.

Martin Brull co-founded the foundation in 2008 in memory of his brother, Tommy, who died in an accident in 1999. Tommy was a counselor at Camp ANCHOR — Answering the Needs of Citizens with Handicaps through Organized Recreation — in Lido Beach, and the foundation has raised more than $100,000 for the camp alone.

More than 20 professional wrestlers performed at the event, and the campers danced afterward to tunes from DJ Marty Mitchell. The day wrapped up the many happenings put on at the camp this summer.

“The best and fastest six weeks of the summer has come to an end [and] we hope everyone had an awesome time at Camp ANCHOR this summer,” the camp wrote on its Facebook page. “We hope to see you at our winter programs. If not, we hope you have an amazing school year and we will see you next summer.”
