A Pop-ular day in Wantagh-Levittown

In honor of National Popsicle Day, the Wantagh-Levittown Volunteer Ambulance Corps held a cool event outside of the Levittown Public Library on Aug. 27.

The WLVAC, which covers parts of North Wantagh and Levittown, was founded in 1956 to help aid residents in emergency situations. The members of the organization are trained in both in CPR and paramedic care.

Many of the first responders hail from the Wantagh-Seaford-Levittown region. They gave out free, flavorful ice pops to local families. Emergency medical technicians also offered along with ambulance tours and airbrush tattoos on the lawn of Veterans Memorial Park.

Children from the area came to the mini-fair to learn how to properly wash their hands and experience the inside of an emergency ambulance truck. The youngsters were able to spend the last, hazy days of summer by learning important safety lessons and enjoy a refreshing treat.
