Cellphones for soldiers

Posted

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) will once again be sponsoring a “Cell Phones for Soldiers” program to benefit our troops serving overseas.

Residents with outdated or unwanted cell phones can donate them at the Seaford Train Station Parking Lot (northwest corner of Sunrise Highway and Jackson Avenue, Seaford) on Saturday, October 12 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Participating in the program is easy; residents can simply drive up, drop off their unwanted cell phones, and drive away.

All phones collected will be sent to a cell phone recycling company which will make a donation to the “Cell Phones for Soldiers” program for each donated phone. The donations will be used to purchase calling cards for overseas soldiers to call their loved ones in the United States. To date, “Cell Phones for Soldiers” has raised over 160,000 minutes of calling time for soldiers and their families.

For more information about this program, please call Senator Fuschillo’s office at 882-0630.
