Elections are about you. Take them seriously.

How long have we heard candidates say such things?

The League of Women Voters of Nassau County is holding public forums for candidates running for county executive, county comptroller, county legislator, Town of Hempstead supervisor, town clerk and town council. We urge you to fill the auditoriums at those forums (see schedule below). Ask questions, and see who speaks specifically and who spouts claptrap. Who spends his or her time criticizing the other candidate, and who reveals plans and intended actions?

Note which candidates don’t bother to show up at these forums. What does that tell you?

On your vote hinges the progress of the county and the town.

The Herald will cover the elections every week, starting with next week's issue (see schedule below). Please let us know what questions you’d like us to ask the candidates on your behalf. Email the executive editor at joconnell@liherald.com.
