Voters in the Wantagh and Seaford library districts approved their respective budgets last week.

In Wantagh, residents approved a $2.45 million spending plan on April 19. According to the library Director Maggie Marino, 157 people voted in favor of the budget, with 59 against. The budget, which takes effect on July 1, maintains all programs and services.

For the library Board of Trustees, Gianna Gelci-Steen ran unopposed for a five-year term and received 160 votes.

Seaford Library residents approved a $2.16 million spending plan on April 20. Library Director Frank McKenna said 84 people voted ‘yes’ to 14 ‘no’ votes.

Although the budget is a light decrease over the current year, it includes additional funding for more programs and the purchase of electronic books. Taxes for the average household are expected to increase about $5 per year, when the budget takes effect on July 1.

Trustee Margaret Grub, who was appointed to the board in January, received 76 votes to be elected to a full five-year term.
