Seaford Pathmark to become Stop & Shop

The Seaford Pathmark store will soon see a change, as Stop & Shop announced it will purchase the supermarket.

Pathmark's parent company, the Great Atlantic & Pacific Team Company, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, affecting hundreds of stores. Pathmark, Waldbaums and A&P supermarkets across the area are either closing or will remain open under the new name.

Stop & Shop announced that the Seaford Pathmark will be one of the stores kept open, along with 13 others in New York. It has not yet been determined when the store will be converted to Stop & Shop.

The Seaford store in located on Merrick Road, just west of the Massapequa border.
