Seaford thespian stars in upcoming musical

Posted

Warren Tierney, of Seaford, has a leading role in the musical comedy “Reefer Madness,” which will be performed the next two weekends at Farmingdale State College. Tierney, a sophomore, plays the role of college dropout Ralph.

The show is presented by the Back Stage Theater Company, a student-run performing arts club. The show, which is for mature audiences, takes a satirical look at the chaos caused when clean-cut kids fall under the influence of drugs, leading them down a hysterical and evil path of debauchery. The stage show debuted in Los Angeles in 1998, and was later adapted for television.

Tierney, a 2014 graduate of Island Trees High School, played Rolf in his school’s production of “The Sound of Music.” Other credits include Ricky in “The Wedding Singer” with Back Stage, We Beseech Thee Soloist in “Godspell” with the Suffolk Theater Arts and Recreation program, and Lucas in “Bare: A Pop Opera” with the Lighthouse Theater Company.

Showtimes for “Reefer Madness” are Nov. 13, 14, 19, 20 and 21 at 8 p.m. It will be performed in the Little Theater in Roosevelt Hall on the Farmingdale Campus. Tickets are $10 for the general public, and $5 for senior citizens and non-Farmingdale students.
