Supermarket switch in Seaford

Posted

Seaford Pathmark is no more. The long-time supermarket, located at 4055 Merrick Road, closed for good on Oct. 29.

The closing is short, as the store is expected to re-open this Friday as a Stop & Shop. Throughout construction, the bank and pharmacy are remaining open, but Seaford has been temporarily left without a supermarket.

The Stop & Shop Supermarket Company purchased 25 stores owned by the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company, otherwise known as A&P, which filed for bankruptcy earlier this year. The Seaford location was among those bought.

“We continue to work around the clock to convert the newly acquired A&P stores to Stop & Shop stores,” said Don Sussman, president of Stop & Shop New York Metro Division, adding that the grand re-opening of several stores has already taken place to “rave reviews.”

Renovations to the Seaford store was part of the fourth wave of conversions. While the extent of the remodeling and addition of new amenities will vary by store, each store will include modern décor, updated refrigeration systems, new lighting, state-of-the-art technology and new and vibrant signage.
