— Beach Movie Nights

The West End Neighbors Civic Association, Westholme Civic Association, Eastholme Civic Association and the Northeast Bay and Canals Civic Association, in cooperation with the city, will kick off its Beach Movie Nights with 1978’s “Grease,” starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, at Neptune Boulevard beach at 8:30 p.m. Giveaways and prizes for best-dressed. — South Nassau Health Fair

Please join your friends and neighbors on Sunday, June 24, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Riverside Boulevard on the boardwalk, for the Long Beach Health Fair, sponsored by South Nassau Communities Hospital and Long Beach Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. They will be providing free screenings for: Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, PSA (Prostate Cancer), Head & Neck Cancer, Balance testing, Sleep assessment, BMI (Body Mass Index) and Obesity.

Join historian and collector Dr. Jay Tartell at Nassau County Mueum of Art, on Saturday, June 23, at 3 p.m., for an unforgettable trip through the Jazz Age using records played on period talking machines. An expert on the early history of the phonograph and recording industry, Dr. Tartell is also a connoisseur of the jazz recordings of the 1920s, a selection of which he has curated (along with the an exhibit of rare phonographs, Victrolas and radios) specially for the museum.
