A Roosevelt man was arrested and charged with attempting to rob an all-terrain vehicle known as a “quad” from a BP gas station on Merrick Road in Merrick last week. While police placed the man in handcuffs, a local good Samaritan helped bring him to justice. more

Scalesi, 54, a lifelong Bellmore resident and a Mepham High School graduate, has served his home community as a volunteer since he was young. He is active in the Bellmore Fire Department and the Kiwanis and Lions clubs, and he’s an honorary lifetime member of the North Bellmore Fire Department’s Company No. 2. more
