Upon entering the Town of Hempstead dog park at Newbridge Road Park in Bellmore, Sasha, an 8-year old German Shepherd, immediately found a weathered tennis ball and claimed it as her own. Her owner, Francine Fleischman, of Merrick, trailed behind with her a 4-year old pup named Hershey.

Shots were fired outside a North Bellmore liquor store around 6:35 p.m. on Monday, according to Nassau County police.
It all began when three men entered Newbridge Wine and Liquors, at 1377 Newbridge Road, on Aug. 8 and stole assorted bottles of liquor, police said. The trio left the store and stashed the merchandise in a 2015 Toyota Corolla parked out front.
