2 men arrested in Elmont for robbery

Two Elmont men were arrested yesterday after one of the men stuck a gun in his victim's mouth, then pistol-whipped him with it, according to Nassau County Police.

According to police, Oshinsky Labossiere, 18, Terrence Philips, 19, and another man, who is still at large, approached a parked car located on Oakley Avenue and E Street on Dec. 3, at 12:15 a.m., and told two men who were sitting inside — a 17- and 18-year-old — to hand over everything they had.

Labossiere placed a revolver against the cheek of one man, and then put it into his mouth, police said. That victim then complied and handed over cash and cell phones, and after taking the property, Labossiere struck him in the eye with the barrel, causing bleeding, swelling and an optical injury, according to police. The second victim had no cash or property to hand over, police said.

According to 5th Precinct detectives, the three alleged suspects then fled in their vehicle, which police located shortly thereafter in front of 587 Oakley Ave. in Elmont. Labossiere stayed in the vehicle and was placed under arrest, and Philips, who was in possession of the handgun, fled into his residence and refused to come out.

Bureau of Special Operations police officers then responded to the scene, did a sweep of the home and placed defendant Philips under arrest, police said. The third defendant was not in the vehicle at that time and is still at large, police said, and the handgun and victims' proceeds were recovered in the area.

Police said the man with eye injuries — who has not been identified — was treated at a local hospital. Labossiere and Phillips were arraigned Saturday in Hempstead's First District Court, on charges of robbery and attempted robbery.

Police are asking anyone with information on this case to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at (800) 244-TIPS.
