2016 Nautical Mile Festival and Blues Festival on June 4

The Annual Freeport Nautical Mile & Blues Festival will be  on Saturday, June 4  on Woodcleft Avenue in Freeport.  This is a family event that includes entertainment, vendors, carnival rides and games, set up along  Freeport’s Nautical Mile as well as a Blues Festival featuring six different bands.   

Freeport’s Mayor Robert T. Kennedy, along with Freeport Village Trustees and the Freeport Chamber of Commerce, will officiate the Festival’s traditional “Ribbon Cutting Ceremony” at the top of the Mile at 11 a.m.  Children’s amusement park rides will be operational from 10am – 8pm.  The Blues Festival will be from 12 p.m.  until 7p.m. at Sea Breeze Park, located at the end of Woodcleft Avenue. It is recommended that spectators bring lawn chairs and blankets so that they can sit and  enjoy the show.    

The following traffic restrictions will be in effect from 10 am – 8pm on Saturday, June 4.  These restrictions will ensure emergency vehicle access for the area, during the course of the day.  The Village of Freeport has mailed post cards to all residents/business’s south of Atlantic Avenue, advising them that restrictions will be in effect on this date.

             Street closures include: Woodcleft Avenue, between Front Street and Richmond Street; South Ocean Avenue from Ray Street Avenue south to Richmond Street; Front Street between Miller and Guy Lombardo Avenues; Cedar Street between Guy Lombardo and Miller Avenues; Adams Street between Woodcleft and Miller Avenues; Hamilton Street between Woodcleft and Miller Avenues; Suffolk Street between Woodcleft and Miller Avenues; Carmen Street, between Guy Lombardo and South Ocean Avenues.

Additionally there are parking restrictions on Guy Lombardo Avenue as well as no west side parking from Cedar Street to the foot of Guy Lombardo Avenue

Finally, to ensure that residents are able to get to their homes on the day of the festival, traffic flow will be as follows: 

Residents who live on Miller Ave. (south of Suffolk Street) will be   

permitted to use Richmond Street eastbound to Ocean Avenue northbound to Suffolk Street westbound in order to leave their homes.

Traffic on Guy Lombardo Avenue south of Front Street will be modified and restricted to homeowners only. 

Traffic south on Miller Avenue will be open to Suffolk Avenue.  South of Suffolk on Miller will be restricted to homeowners only.
