Baldwin students show support for their community
Baldwin Middle School students Alyssa La Motta and Brandon Walters hosted an independent food drive for the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry at St. Christopher’s Church in Baldwin. The food drive took place on May 31 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at King Kullen in Rockville Centre. With the assistance of their siblings, Brianna Walters and Gianna La Motta, both from Plaza Elementary School, they successfully collected 366 items for the pantry.
Shoppers praised the children for taking up this noble cause and others shared their own personal experiences of how the charity, St. Vincent de Paul, helped them in their time of need.
The children proudly delivered the donations to the pantry on June 6. The pantry’s director, Mary, was moved by the constant flow of boxes that filled the pantry. Grateful for the much needed donations, she thanked them personally for going above and beyond for the community.
The children would like to thank King Kullen of Rockville Centre for allowing them to use their facility and special thanks to the shoppers for their generous contributions and act of kindness.
