Emergency Department project nears end at East Meadow hospital

Posted

Plaza Construction, along with Gilbane and the staff at the Nassau University Medical Center, successfully coordinated the last of the two major portions to be completed for the new and soon to be opened emergency department project at the Nassau University Medical Center. The new emergency back-up generator, above, was installed on April 6 with the new canopy/bridge work at the south main entrance off of Hempstead Turnpike, is being constructed now and due for completion in the coming weeks. This will allow us to open the new emergency room this late May.

The new, state of the art back up generator is 1000 kilowatts, 90 tons, 45 feet long, 13 feet wide and 13 feet high, will further allow the emergency department to operate during black outs/ power issues and during any emergency or catastrophe that could possibly hit Long Island.
