A welcome move to open county government

Government should be of the people, by the people and for the people, to paraphrase Abraham Lincoln. In this computer age, we finally have the chance to directly connect people to their government, without forcing them to take time off from work to attend a meeting. We should make the most of it.

What is a public meeting?

The term “meeting” is defined as “the official convening of a public body for the purpose of conducting public business.” As such, when a quorum (a majority of the membership of a public body) gathers to discuss public business, the meeting must be open to the public, whether there is an intent to act on an issue or simply discuss it.
