Two cars collide on Meadowbrook

An accident near the intersection of the Meadowbrook State Parkway and the Southern State Parkway in North Merrick caused one person to be taken to a local hospital Tuesday morning, state police said.

Officials with Troop L of the New York State Police said two cars collided near exit M6 in North Merrick at 8:30 a.m. on April 9. The accident occurred near the spot where the Meadowbrook connects to the Southern State.

One person was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre and treated for minor injuries. Police did not identify the person or the nature of his treatment.

The Meadowbrook did not close as a result of the accident Tuesday morning at any point. Officials said the accident backed up traffic for about one hour while emergency responders tended to the drivers and cleared the scene. The North Merrick Fire Department also responded to the accident.
