American Legion Post 1087 supports soldiers overseas
Photos by Jina Papadoniou/Herald
Steven Spohr, 17, finished up packaging the last few boxes to be sent to soldiers overseas.

On July 5 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Boy Scouts and veterans of the American Legion Cathedral Post 1087 in West Hempstead helped in assorting and preparing care packages to be sent to troops in Afghanistan. Members from Boy Scout Troop 93 in Franklin Square also assisted.

Nearly 30 packages were prepared, all of which will go to the Chinook Helicopter Unit in Afghanistan. Scout Michael Arevalo, of Troop 93, has been working on this project toward his Eagle Scout honor for more than six months.
