He has been recognized a number of times for his community service and his work in the literary community. He was named Long Islander of the Week by Newsday in May 2011, Citizen of the Year by the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce in 2008 and Kiwanian of the Year in 2007. He was presented the Long Island Writers Guild’s Community Service Award in 2010, the Town of Hempstead’s Make a Difference Award in 2008, and was honored by United New Yorkers for Choice in Education in 2006. A native Long Islander, Iovino is a graduate of the University of Richmond and St. John’s University School of Law. He is the lead litigation partner at Bondi Iovino & Fusco in Garden City.

He and his wife, Angela, have raised two daughters, Amanda, 27, and Alison, 23. Tony and Angela have known each other since they were second-graders. “My crush with her goes back to elementary school,” he said. “But after we got married, she said that I was around too much, and I should find something in the community to get involved with,” he added with a laugh. “I did.”
