Baldwin Middle School physical education teacher Kathleen Durnin was inducted into the Hofstra University Athletics Hall of Fame on the weekend of April 14. Prior to her career in the Baldwin schools, Durnin, formerly Mikowski, was a successful lacrosse player for the Hofstra Pride. Durnin played lacrosse during the early 2000s and remains Hofstra’s all-time leading scorer with 240 points. She was a two-time All-American — one of just four players in program history to earn that honor twice — and was named Hofstra’s Female Athlete of the Year in 2002 and 2003.
