Posted

Updated, 2 p.m., Jan. 2: The Bellmore School District, Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District, Merrick School District, North Bellmore School District and North Merrick School District have all cancelled classes for Friday, Jan. 2, ahead of a predicted winter storm that could dump six to 12 inches of snow across the area.

Bellmore-Merrick component elementary school districts have cancelled after-school activities for this afternoon, but after-school child-care programs are on.

As of press time at 12:30 p.m., after-school activities were still on in the Central High School District. A Central official, however, said that the district would assess the situation at 3 p.m., and if snow falls, after-school activities might be curtailed.

The Central District’s last bus will run at 5:15 p.m. today, a Central official said at press time.
