Bellmore moms and dads bowl for a good cause

Posted

More than 100 mothers and fathers, from Bellmore and Massapequa, came together for an evening of friendly competition for a good cause last weekend.

Members of the Bellmore and Massapequa Moms Facebook groups brought folks from both communities together for a charity bowling fundraiser at Massapequa Bowl on March 29, according to Natalie Molloy, the administrator of the Bellmore group.

Members of other local organizations ––Alison Frankel, president of the South Bellmore Civic Association; Maryanne Kelly, president of the Bellmore Board of Education; and Eileen Casazza, founder of the Bellmore Preservation Group –– came to support the cause. Nassau County Legislator Dave Denenberg also presented the Bellmore Moms Group with a citation for their efforts.

The Massapequa Moms Group fundraised for Drug Free Massapequa, while the Bellmore Moms Group supported the Rose Brucia Educational Foundation (click to find out more about each organization).

“When amazing, busy moms and dads take the time to get together and offer their participation for good causes, any amount of money raised is a victory,” Molloy said.

Among the local businesses supporting the event were The Rock Underground, Danny’s Chinese Kitchen, Left Coast Kitchen, Metromodes, Puppy Love Pet Care, Oraiami Owl, Have You Heard?, Harley Davidson, Karma, Ooodles of Doodles, Ahloe Cal Cruz Surf Shop, Madison Salina’s Lingerie and Let’s Accessorize.

Molloy said she was proud of the local parents who participated in the first event the Bellmore Moms Group helped organize. She added that she is looking forward to working with others on future programs.

“I couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome,” Molloy said. “I am looking forward to meeting more of the wonderful people that make up this community, old friends and new.”
