Break-ins reported at multiple Valley Stream businesses

Two businesses had their glass front doors smashed sometime Wednesday night or early Thursday morning in apparent smash-and-grab crimes that are similar to at least two previous incidents in recent weeks.

The door of Quickbite Deli, at 137 S. Franklin St., across from the Valley Stream Post Office, was shattered with a chunk of concrete, and the door of 103 Rainbow Nail, Inc., at 236 Rockaway Ave., was broken, though it didn’t shatter.

Diane Huang, an employee at the nail salon, said she arrived at work on Thursday morning and found the door broken.

The incidents were similar to a burglary at Panaché & Dino’s Unisex Hair Salon, at 221 Rockaway Ave., that happened at 4 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13, according to owner Bari Fici. He said that Joey Carlino, owner of T & F Pork Store, which is across the street from his shop, found his cash register in the garbage behind the pork store, broken with cash missing.

The owner of Papo Deli, at 164 Rockaway Ave., confirmed that his store was also hit, but did not say when.

Nassau County police did not immediately respond to requests for comment, but Fici said police found fingerprints and blood on his cash register.
