Centre Avenue hosts Back to School Fair

Pumpkins, dunk tank, sweet treats highlights of the day at the annual Back to School Fair held on school grounds.

The fair also featured facepainting, tattoos, carnival games, the popular goldfish game a dart and balloon game and a coin game. The delicious fare included cotton candy, popcorn and pretzels, hamburgers, hotdogs, chicken kebobs and steak kebobs.

Principal Tim Silk, Deputy Mayor Bruno Romano, Mike Lores and Richie Neckles were the brave “dunkees” at the Dunk Tank. Fall flowers, bales of hay and cornstalks were also sold, and there was a pumpkin patch and a paint-your-own pumpkin areahad a make your own cupcake table. There was also a child ID booth, three inflatables, an obstacle coarse, a moon bounce/slide combo and an 18’ slide.  

“The kids seemed to have a great time,” agreed PTA co-presidents Christine Del Valle and Merri LaBarbara. “A great big thank you goes out to everyone who helped out that day.  It takes a lot of people to make the fair happen. Thank you to all the teachers that volunteered and who came to visit us.  It’s a lot of work, but a great way to start off the school year, with everyone working together for the same cause — the kids.”
