The Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores is inviting local folks to celebrate the community’s holiday traditions at a series of seasonal events.

On Friday, Nov. 28, Santa Claus will ride on a fire truck with chamber members during the Bellmores’ annual Santa Run, sponsored by the chamber, the Bellmore Fire Department and the Bellmore Movies. Jolly Old St. Nick will stop to take photos with children at:

  • CVS Shopping Plaza, North Jerusalem Road, between Bellmore and East Meadow avenues, at 9 a.m.
  • Stop & Shop, Jerusalem Avenue and Newbridge Road, 9:30 a.m.
  • Ace Shopping Center, Merrick Road and Bedford Avenue, 10 a.m.
  • Bellmore Firehouse, Pettit Avenue in Bellmore Village, 10:30 a.m.

The chamber will also show a free family film at the Bellmore Movies at 11 a.m.

Next up will be the chamber’s Holiday Extravaganza on Friday, Dec. 5, at 6 p.m. The event will feature horse-and-carriage rides on Bedford, an old-time trolley on neighboring streets and children’s activities. The Christmas tree, near the veterans’ memorial at Bedford Avenue and Broadway, will be lit at 7 p.m.

On Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 6 p.m., the Bellmores will mark the start of Hanukkah by lighting a large menorah, near the Christmas tree.
