Assemblyman Brian Curran was unanimously elected Executive Leader of the Lynbrook Republican Committee in a vote of the organization’s committee.

Curran takes over from Nassau County Legislator Fran Becker, who had stepped down after serving in that capacity for over a decade.

Lynbrook Mayor William Hendrick was also elected Deputy Executive Leader.

Members of the Becker Family had served as Executive Leader of the Lynbrook Republican Committee for close to forty years.

“The Becker Family has a long history in Lynbrook and in Republican politics,” said Curran. “As the new Republican leader here, I am looking forward to building upon their accomplishments.”

Curran pointed out that Legislator Francis Becker, former Assemblyman Gregory Becker and Robert Becker were the three immediately previous Lynbrook Republican Executive Leaders.

Former Congressman Frank Becker and former Mayor Francis X. Becker, Sr. also had large involvement with the organization.

Curran expressed optimism at growing the Lynbrook Republican organization under his watch.

“I’m committed to building and growing the Lynbrook Republican Committee and a Lynbrook Republican Club because so many people in our hometown embrace the principles of individualism, hard work and opportunity,” he said. “So many middle class families and seniors in our beautiful community believe in these ideals — they help bring good government.  The Republican message is one that resonates across dinner tables and through pocketbooks and wallets across our village,” said Curran.

Curran said that his own father came to this country from Ireland when he was 24 years old, and he and his mother, who lived in Brooklyn, bought their first and only house in Lynbrook, on Christabel Street.

“I always looked at my parents as real life examples of what Republican principles of individualism, personal responsibility and hard work can do,” Curran said. “As my father experienced firsthand, when you set a goal and work hard, you can accomplish anything for yourself, your family and our country.”
