Dever students honor adult reading volunteers

Posted

The James A. Dever School hosted its annual Juniors Meet Seniors Concert and Brunch on April 18 to recognize the adult volunteers who participate in the school’s intergenerational reading program.

Students greeted the volunteers with flowers and escorted them to the auditorium, where they enjoyed performances by the orchestra, senior chorus, concert band and jazz band.

The concert was followed by a PTA-sponsored brunch, after which many of the guests went to classrooms to share reading activities with their young partners.

The program fosters intergenerational bonds between the volunteers and students. It is more than 15 years old.
