Merokean Dina Lohan, 51, mother of actress Lindsay Lohan, pleaded guilty to aggravated driving while intoxicated, an A misdemeanor, and speeding, a traffic violation, on Tuesday at Nassau County District Court in Hempstead.

Lohan’s plea deal will require her to carry out 100 hours of community service, forfeit her driver’s license for one year, install devices in all her cars, which require a breath test to prove that the driver is sober before the car will start, participate in a program that is designed to educate offenders about the risks of alcohol and drugs, and pay about $3,100 in fines.

She is due back in court for sentencing on June 3. A press release from Nassau District Attorney Kathleen Rice’s office stated that Andrew Engel, a Nassau County District Court judge, will likely sentence Lohan to a one-year conditional discharge. She could be arrested if she does not abide by her plea agreement’s terms or commits a new offense in that time.

“An offer has been made to Dina Lohan that is too good to pass over — no jail, no probation and the opportunity to resume her driving,” said Lohan’s attorney, Mark Heller, on Tuesday. “Ms. Lohan has considered her options. She’s very pleased with this disposition.”

State police arrested Lohan at 11 p.m. last Sept. 12 after they caught her driving a white BMW 77 miles per hour in a 55-mph zone on the westbound Northern State Parkway. A breath test revealed her blood alcohol content was .20 –– twice the legal limit, according to New York State Police.

The state troopers took her to their Long Island headquarters in Farmingdale, where she claimed that an officer had injured her during her arrest. State Police officials called for an ambulance, and an evaluation showed that she had not suffered any injuries.
