Posted

The District 13 Board of Education appointed an assistant superintendent and created a new position to oversee its technology department on April 19.

Judith LaRocca was appointed assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction, replacing interim Shirley Martin who filled a vacancy left by Carrie Schozer in 2013. LaRocca is currently serving as the director of curriculum, instruction and technology in the New Hyde Park-Garden City Park School District. She also served as assistant administrative coordinator for student data services at Eastern Suffolk BOCES. LaRocca will oversee, coordinate and supervise curriculum, instruction and assessment, including planning and implementation, program development and evaluation, and professional development.

Daniel P. Farsaci was appointed to the position of director of technology, a new position created in line with Superintendent Constance Evelyn’s plan to reorganize the technology department. Farsaci is currently serving as director of instructional and Desktop Technologies at Finger Lakes Community College in Canandaigue, New York.

Farsaci will plan, coordinate and manage the activities of the district’s technology department and provide leadership and guidance in the implementation of district-wide educational technology. He will also be responsible for enhancing technologies that support the district’s security systems, as well as increasing the use of instructional technology throughout the district. The annual salary for the new position was set at $130,000.

Both administrators are scheduled to take office in July.
