An East Meadow couple vies for the wedding of their dreams in a new VH1 reality show that premieres tonight at 9 p.m. For a video preview of the show "Wedding Wars," click here. The following is a story on the couple that ran in the March 3 issue of the East Meadow Herald:

Frankie Rosati’s proposal to Sofia Mikromastoras was as if it was straight out of a storybook or film. Vying for the wedding of their dreams was not so easy.

The East Meadow couple is eagerly waiting to watch the March 14 premiere of VH1’s new reality series, “Wedding Wars,” which pitted them against 11 other teams of soon-to-be brides and grooms for a chance to win an extravagant wedding.

When Rosati and Mikromastoras signed on for the show, they were under the impression that it would be filmed at a five-star resort on a beautiful island. They were duped. Instead, the 12 competing couples were dropped off on a remote island with little food and water. Awaiting them was a series of challenges that tested their physical and mental strength. The last couple standing at the end would win their dream wedding.

The premiere of “Wedding Wars,” hosted by Michele Merkin, airs on VH1 on Monday, March 14, at 9 p.m.

The Herald chatted with Rosati and Mikromastoras, both 30, who talked about the road that led them to “Wedding Wars.”

Herald: How long have you lived in East Meadow?

Frankie: I have lived there since 2004, and Sofia has been there since last April. I’m originally from Astoria and Sofia is from Ronkonkoma. We love East Meadow. It’s a great place. It’s centrally located on the Island and the people of East Meadow are great.

H: How did you meet?

Frankie: We were actually college sweethearts [at Adelphi]. Our parents introduced us on campus for college orientation, even before we started college.

Sofia: We go to orientation, you don’t know anybody, and then believe it or not, the two sets of Greek parents talked to each other and introduced us. From there, sparks flew and I wanted to meet up with him.

H: So you’ve stayed together since your days at college?
