O’Flaherty, Skinner reelected

Thousands of East Meadow residents flocked to the elementary schools to cast their ballots and the $184 million school district budget was approved.

The budget stays below the 2 percent tax-levy-increase cap signed into law by Governor Cuomo last June while preserving all of the district’s academic programs, sports, music and extracurricular activities as well as staff levels. It also maintains funding for capital projects.

The community also voted to reelect trustees Brian O’Flaherty and Walter Skinner. They were each appointed for an additional three-year term.
