Meagher pointed out the presence of two ERHS Alumni employed by NY Life, Jaclyn Marinazzo and Michael Dwyer, whose presence and participation will be followed by a $5,000 check to EREF from the New York Life Foundation. In December an earlier $5,000 check from NY Life was presented to EREF via the participation in “Rebuild the Rock” of other alumni/employees led by Artie Keegan. He added that word reached the ERUFSD earlier that day that an EREF grant proposal prepared and submitted by EREF Director (and BOE President) Kristin Ochtera to Macy’s would be funded for $10,000.

The honorees and a video

The program continued with a special video titled “A Sense of Community,” that depicted the Post-Sandy journey the community has taken on the road to recovery. Presentations to the honorees then followed, each proceeded by an introduction and a brief video, and followed by remarks by the honoree. Ken Pacheco introduced Bob and Maryann Amabile; Vera Gallagher introduced Hugh Howard; and Michelle Dempsey Healy introduced first Lorraine Donlon and then Lorraine Liberti. Dinner Dance Chair Michelle Healy then introduced the Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Roseanne Melucci, who swore in those 2012-2013 directors who were present. In a dramatic move just before the swearing-in, Vicki Alspector popped out of her chair to rejoin EREF as an active member.
