“Whenever you get a chance to see some of your former wrestling partners it’s a great feeling because we show a good, strong camaraderie,” Becker said. “The bond that wrestlers have is very unique and we have tremendous respect for each other.”

Becker will join Murphy as a member of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame when he’s inducted in April. Renz, who has been a wrestling coach at LHS since 1990 and head coach for the last five years, said that was one of the many things they celebrated during the post-match celebration at McQuade’s Neighborhood Grill.

“When we started it three years ago our short-term goal was to get it off the ground,” Renz said of the event, “which we did, and our long-term goal is to keep this going from many years to come.

“We expect this to go on for a very long time,” he added. “We’d like to keep it forever.”
