Holiday Fun

1863 Thanksgiving
If you missed it last weekend, there’s still time to experience a traditional Thanksgiving as it was celebrated in the 19th century, during Old Bethpage Village Restoration’s annual Thanksgiving event. Old-fashioned wood burning stoves, beehive ovens and hearths are fired up to prepare a variety of foods and baked goods, using historical recipes. A fat turkey is spitted and roasted, with a demonstration of food preservation methods, musical entertainment and children’s activities.
Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 29-30, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. $10 adults, $7 children 5-12 and seniors. 1303 Round Swamp Road, Old Bethpage. (516) 572-8400.
