Helping injured soldiers do more than survive

In addition to playing golf and tennis, there would be introductory clinics for both sports conducted by the club pros, possibly an opportunity for the service men and women to go fishing, and then there would an day-ending dinner in the club’s banquet hall that would include an awards presentation and potentially raffle prizes.

With an eye toward making this an annual event, Men’s Golf Club President Cliff Lelonek noted that the Wounded Warrior Project is a nationwide cause and participating in the tournament is way to “say thank you to the people who served our country.” “We have the workings of a very successful day,” he said.

The next meeting is scheduled for March 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the club at 101 Causeway in Lawrence.
