The brave men and women of law enforcement who put their lives on the line on a daily basis are the focus of a new documentary, “Heroes Behind the Badge: Sacrifice & Survival.” This highly anticipated follow-up to the original “Heroes Behind The Badge,” released in 2012, can be seen this weekend at Hofstra University’s John Cranford Adams Playhouse, on Dec. 15, at 4 p.m.

The film not only tells the stories of the brave officers who have laid down their lives in the line of duty, but also the stories of the countless officers each year who are physically disabled, many of them permanently, in violent confrontations.

Nassau County Emergency Services Officer Arthur Lopez, who was shot and killed in the line of duty on Oct. 23, 2012, is one of the many law enforcement officers who are profiled in this film. Other line of duty deaths incurred by the Nassau County Police Department from the past few years are also recognized in this documentary.

The film aims to change the way the public looks at the men and women of law enforcement and recognize these officers for the supreme sacrifices they make to protect and serve their communities. The inspiring documentary highlights the unselfish acts of bravery they commit each day in the line of duty. Its stories are powerful, emotional, insightful, and educational.

Tickets are $15. Fifty percent of the net proceeds will go directly back to support the non-profit National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.
