Drivers are also very high on the residents’ wish lists. They are looking for dependable men and women who can take them to and from medical appointments. They are also looking forward to an upcoming Stand Down, an event at which veterans’ organizations come together to provide vets with food, clothing, haircuts, counseling and other services. The event will take place at the American Legion, 160 Marvin Avenue in Hempstead on July 15 — and the residents of 721 Woodfield will need a ride there as well.
